Dog Coat Designer Leads Innovators' Cat Walk

Toni Cherrett, from the tiny rocky British Channel Island of Alderney, is set to transform canine clothing with a dog coat design that dispenses with the difficulties of traditional protective wear and recognises that dogs, just like their owners, are happier when dressed in clothes that are comfortable, well-fitting and above all created to meet their needs. The Trover? Dog Coat with patent pending incorporates a three-point anchoring system with soft thigh cuffs around the hind legs.
It does away with traditional fastenings to completely overcome common problems associated with old-style coats, and has proven so successful that its originality in design and application
have placed
Toni Cherrett among the top ten
British Female Inventors / Innovators of
2005.
The GWIIN award was announced last night (February 17th) at a ceremony in the Old Royal Naval College, Maritime, Greenwich.Today's dogs are regarded as more family member and less pet than ever before.
As a result they are generally healthier; they're living longer; and they're becoming more accustomed to their creature comforts as dog kennels make way for centrally-heated living rooms.
Like us, they're used to being pampered ? and so less well equipped to cope outdoors.

They need good quality coats to help protect them when they're outside.
Until the arrival of Toni Cherrett's Trover? coat, dog apparel had failed to keep pace with the needs of the modern breed of canine.Typical problems with traditional coats include restricted heart and lung function caused by underbelly straps (which can also chafe), the coat slipping or entangling dogs dangerously in the undergrowth ? and, most commonly, the coat being blown about in bad weather, just when the dog (and its owner) needs the protection most. The Trover? Dog Coat fits easily with no fuss or trouble. Toni Cherrett's design has already been adapted to suit a number of applications across Europe and the United States (where it has been granted a US Design Patent) ? from helping aged pooches with aching joints to being sported by the GB World Agility Dog Team in Italy last September.
Indeed, dogs enjoy wearing them so much that they often boast two or three Trover? Coat styles in their wardrobe. The Trover? Dog Coat is currently available mail-order from www.trovercoats.com and will soon be introduced to retail outlets throughout the UK.
It can be purchased in a wide variety of standard sizes, with a choice of colours and fabrics to suit the chosen styles.

Prices (inclusive of VAT, post and packing) start at ?32.08 for a medium Trover? Agility Warm-up Coat..

Baby Clothing

Even though it is meant for the same purpose as for the adults, baby clothing has attained different dimensions in the recent years. These days, baby clothing is not only used to cover babies, but it also serves an aesthetic and safety-related purpose.

The best baby clothing is supposed to have very soft texture and should aim at protecting the child's fragile body. Cotton, polyester, fleece, spandex, and nylon are some of the fibers that are used to make baby clothing.

Ranges of baby clothing starts from infant clothing for babies between 0-1 months called a bodysuit. A bodysuit?also known as a babygrow, sleepsuit, or stretchsuit?is a one-piece, long-sleeved outfit with zippers down the front and the legs. Because most babies dislike having anything pulled over their heads, one should look for garments that are easy to put on and take off.

When purchasing a dress for babies or toddlers to wear on a daily basis, it is good to avoid buying...

How to Paint a Design on Leather Goods

Sometimes your leather goods need a little help and you've got the urge to dye or paint it. With dye it's pretty straight forward, but if you want to paint it there's a little more involved to make it look good. Whenever you are attempting a project like this, always test it out on a scrap piece first. When using different pigments, be sure to let one dry before adding the next color. What to UseUse water-based acrylic paints designed for leather because they are more flexible than ordinary acrylics.

If painting the entire surface of the leather, check to see if your leather goods are vegetable-dyed, as they absorb the paint better than leather goods tanned by other methods. Not sure if the leather goods are vegetable-dyed? Test a scrap piece to see how well it absorbs the paint. What to DoBegin by cleaning the leather goods, using a solution of one ounce of leather bleach to one pint of water, applying the solution with a soft brush or wool dauber. You can also lightly sponge...

You'll want to use protective dog clothing to keep your active dog safe and warm when adventuring in the great outdoors. The right dog clothing will go a long way in protecting your dog from cuts, scratches and severe weather conditions. Protective dog clothing like dog coats, vests, and dog booties are important for more than one reason. The main function of dog clothing, like our own clothing, is to keep your dog dry and warm when the weather turns stormy and cold. But many people take advantage of the newer styles of dog clothing that incorporate safety features like reflective materials stitched into the outfits.

They help to make your dog much more visible when the weather darkens the sky. This is an important safety consideration for the dog that is active outdoors. And if you take your dog hunting or hiking through the woods, she'll really appreciate the protective features of dog clothing designed specifically for active dogs. Even the most user-friendly trails through...

Play It Safe in the Sun--Wear Those Shades!

As you rub in the sunscreen to protect your skin this summer, don't forget sunglasses to protect your eyes. With the thinning ozone layer, it's not just skin cancer you have to worry about. Your eyes are vulnerable to the effects of Ultra Violet (UV) rays as well. This same radiation that damages skin can also increase your risk of developing eye problems, such as cataracts--a clouding of the eye's lens which develops over years. Sunglasses are no longer a simple fashion accessory but a health...
