Medical Uniforms

The importance of wearing medical uniforms was established when Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in the medical field, saw the need to provide maximum comfort to medical professionals and guarantee the highest level of performance when working long hours at hospitals. Her actions strongly influenced hospitals, and, medical uniforms are part of the dress code in medical facilities throughout the world.

There are many examples of medical uniforms. These include doctors' scrubs, lab coats and dental scrubs. Medical professionals wear these uniforms according to their field in order to provide comfort and more mobility while at work.

Doctors who perform surgery or work in emergency rooms use doctors' scrubs. Operations can be exhausting and very stressful for doctors, not to mention the smell of anesthesia, the blood and all the other chemicals that can ruin every day clothing.

Wearing scrubs may not relieve the stress and pressure but can certainly provide protection and contribute to a smooth operation or procedure, since the doctor can move easily without worrying about the confinement of inappropriate clothing.

Lab coats, just like scrubs, provide doctors with the freedom to move about and perform procedures without worry about fluids that can be dangerous when they come in contact with the skin There are several types of lab coats that include female lab coats, male lab coats, consultation lab coats and unisex lab coats.

If the first two medical uniforms protect doctors, the dental scrubs work in the same way and just as well for dentists. Dental procedures and operations can be messy, and these scrubs protect dentists from getting messy during procedures. Not only that, children commonly hate going to the dentist. And so dental scrubs can have cartoon characters on it to distract children during the dental procedure.

All these medical uniforms come in many different fabrics, styles and colors. The traditional white medical uniforms are not the only colors available today. Many colors are now available with designs that are sure to please anyone in the medical or dental fields..

Winter Safety for New York Pets

Sadly, it was not so long ago that a young doctoral student, Jodie Lane, was killed on a NYC street while doing something as mundane as walking her dog on a wet city street. Jodie stepped onto a metal plate with her dogs and was electrified by an underground cable. The dogs survived, but Jodie who fell on the plate, did not have the protection that a rubber soled shoe might have provided. Pedestrians are generally safe from the voltage hazards that New York has faced from plates, manhole covers and streetlights because of their rubber soled sneakers and shoes.
However, our bare pawed pets have been more susceptible to these stray currents - until now.

Many New York pet owners who sport rubber soles on wet city streets as a matter of precaution, can now deck their pets out in their own rubber soled dog shoes. G-Boots and Hound Hikers, are two brands of dog boots taking dog owners by storm, so to speak. They are probably the only boots for dogs that are made with rubber...

Alaskan Husky - The facts every owner of this dog breed should know

The Alaskan Husky is not truly a 'breed' of dog in the traditional sense. The name is actually a classification for this working and sled dog. There is no written breed standard for Alaskan Huskies and it is not a registered breed or show dog. Alaskan Huskies are the descendants of several dogs: Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Border Collie, German Shepard and possibly a few others.

Most Alaskan Huskies have brown eyes, but can also have blue or blue-brown combinations.

They are about 20 to 24 inches high and average about 35 to 65 pounds, giving them a slim build. Since this dog is used primarily for work, colors and markings are unimportant in breeding and vary widely from dog to dog. Alaskan Huskies can be pure black, totally white and everything in between. Tails can be long and curly or barely there. The ears are often times prick ears, but some Alaskan Huskies have ears that droop.

They do not need a lot of maintenance, as their coats...
